Rockwood Fire Department Awarded Loan for Rescue/Pumper Truck, says Metzgar
Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset) today announced the Rockwood Fire Company is receiving a $150,000 low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) to finance the purchase of a 2009 rescue/pumper truck.
“This is great news for a hard-working fire company that has done magnificent work over many years in our area,” said Metzgar. “Upgrading equipment is a top priority for our first responders and this loan program is a great example of state government assistance done well.”
The truck being put into use by the fire company has the capability of pumping 1,500 gallons per minute. The head of the fire company is Chief James Miller.
The funding comes from the Volunteer Loan Assistance Program in the Office of the State Fire Commissioner through PEMA.
