HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-69) announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) awarded a $250,000 grant to PBS Coals through the CFA’s Multimodal Transportation Fund Program. The funding will be used to rehabilitate railroad tracks for the Cambria Prep Plant located in Stoneycreek Township, Somerset County.

HARRISBURG – A bridge dedicated to a fallen corrections officer who succumbed to injuries during an assault at the State Correctional Institution at Somerset was dedicated in Sgt. Mark J. Baserman’s memory Friday, according to Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Bedford/Somerset), who spearheaded the legislative effort (2019 Act 102) to name the bridge.

Metzgar to Designate PFC Alton Glenn Sterner Memorial Bridge in Rockwood Borough

WHAT: A portion of State Route 2016 (Rockdale Road) over the Casselman River will be designated as the PFC Alton Glenn Sterner Memorial Bridge. PFC Sterner was a native of Rockwood Borough who served with the U.S. Army 5th Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War. He gave his life in service to his country on June 19, 1953.

Metzgar, Stefano Announce $65,000 for Windber Blight Remediation

House Passes Bill to Aid Nonprofit, Volunteer First Responder Organizations, Metzgar Says

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania House of Representatives today passed House Bill 290, which would allow the online operation and reveal of contest winners of raffles and drawings for nonprofit and first responder organizations, which is not allowed under current law. This change would expire upon the conclusion of the COVID-19 disaster emergency or May 1, 2022, whichever happens later.
