WHAT: The bridge on East Campus Avenue over U.S. Route 219 in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, will be designated as the Kenneth J. Newcomer Memorial Bridge. Newcomer, a Jerome native, was killed in action on Oct. 9, 1944, in Belgium.

CAIRNBROOK – Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset) joined state and local officials, veterans and community members to dedicate a bridge in honor of Seaman 1st Class Raymond Kozik, a Somerset County native who gave his life in service to his country during World War II. The bridge, carrying State Route 1016 (McGregor Avenue) over Dark Shade Creek in Shade Township, will now be known as the Seaman 1st Class Raymond Kozik Memorial Bridge.

WHAT: Rep. Carl Walker Metzger (R-Somerset) will lead a ceremony to unveil a sign designating the bridge on McGregor Avenue over Dark Shade Creek in Cairnbrook, Somerset County, in memory of Raymond Kozik. Kozik, a Cairnbrook native and seaman 1st class, was killed in action while serving in the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS Indianapolis on July 30, 1945.

WHAT: The bridge on State Route 1015 over the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River in Allegheny Township, Somerset County, will be designated as the Staff Sergeant William Will Memorial Bridge. Will, a Glassport native, was killed in action during the Vietnam War on July 5, 1966.
