SOMERSET – Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford) is issuing a public service announcement regarding the registration and renewal process for a Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
All current and prospective CDL applicants will need to present a current Pennsylvania state-issued birth certificate, or the certificate from the state the applicant was born in, when applying at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. All applicants’ birth certificates must have the raised seal of Pennsylvania, or the birth state, to apply for a CDL registration and renewal.
“CDL applicants can apply for a current Pennsylvania state birth certificate at my district offices in Somerset, Windber and Hyndman,” said Metzgar.
The cost of a new current state-issued birth certificate is $20 per copy. The estimated lead time for processing birth certificate applications is eight weeks.
Questions regarding the process for requesting a current Pennsylvania state birth certificate can be directed to Metzgar’s Somerset district office at 814-443-4230.
