HARRISBURG – Rep. Carl Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford) announced today that families at Somerset Christian School and St. Peter School in Somerset received Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) scholarships from the Bridge Educational Foundation for the 2021-22 school year as part of the state’s EITC program.
This program, which was enacted by the Legislature in 2001, provides tuition scholarships to income-qualified families to attend the tuition-based schools of their choice.
“It is imperative that we continue to emphasize the importance of tomorrow,” Metzgar said. “Our students are the future of this Commonwealth and their needs must be met in order to succeed. I am pleased to see these families receive financial help.”
The scholarships were donated by Waste Management.
The Bridge Educational Foundation provides EITC and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) scholarship opportunities to Pennsylvania’s low-income families. Since the foundation's inception in 2005, it has raised more than $38 million in scholarships for students. With those funds, more than 36,000 scholarships have been provided for families in 61 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
