HARRISBURG –Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford) today announced his co-sponsorship of
House Bill 326. This legislation would require the Pennsylvania National Guard (PANG) to assist in both the distribution and administration of the COVID-19 vaccine in all 67 of Pennsylvania’s counties.
As required by the bill, PANG would establish vaccination sites in every county to augment the work of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
“Pennsylvania currently ranks 46th out of 50 in our vaccine distribution efforts, which is simply unacceptable. This bill would allow us to use PANG’s infrastructure, manpower and logistics to increase the availability and efficiency of distribution for the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Metzgar. “Every tool at Pennsylvania’s disposal needs to be utilized in order to get this vaccine out to Pennsylvanians, so that we may finally put this pandemic in our past and resume living life.”
On Monday, Feb. 1, at 9 a.m., the House Health Committee will hold a hearing regarding the administration’s distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine and the inefficiencies encountered so far. The hearing will be streamed live at
