Metzgar to Hold Ceremony to Officially Name Bridge in Honor of Seaman 1st Class Raymond Kozik

WHAT: Rep. Carl Walker Metzger (R-Somerset) will lead a ceremony to unveil a sign designating the bridge on McGregor Avenue over Dark Shade Creek in Cairnbrook, Somerset County, in memory of Raymond Kozik. Kozik, a Cairnbrook native and seaman 1st class, was killed in action while serving in the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS Indianapolis on July 30, 1945.

WHO: Metzgar; Sen. Pat Stefano (R-Bedford/Fayette/Somerset/Westmoreland); family members of Kozik; and members of the community.

WHEN: Friday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m.

WHERE: Central City VFW Post 7457, 351 Main St., Central City.
