Metzgar and Marsico Pass Amendment to Create Felony Charge for Teachers Engaging in Sexual Activity with Students

HARRISBURG – In the wake of incidents that have occurred locally and around the Commonwealth, Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford) today said he has worked with the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Ron Marsico (R-Dauphin), to pass an amended bill creating the offense of institutional sexual assault in a school or child center setting. It would apply whether or not the student has reached the age of consent in Pennsylvania, which is 16.
Metzgar Helps Move Gas Drilling Safety Bill to House Floor

HARRISBURG – Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford) voted to approve legislation to require the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates on all unconventional oil and gas wells, and mandate drillers to file emergency management plans to enhance public safety. Metzgar’s vote came as the bill was considered in the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee.
