Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Receives Grant, Metzgar Says
HARRISBURG – The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is the recipient of a $174,000 grant from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford) announced today.

The grant will used toward the acquisition of approximately 106 acres of land along Laurel Hill Creek in Middle Creek Township, Somerset County.

“Preserving our natural treasurers has long been the mission of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy,” Metzgar said. “I am pleased the Commonwealth has provided assistance to purchase land, which will attract additional outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen to the area.”

The grant is through DCNR’s Community Conservation Partnerships Program. The program provides financial and technical assistance for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenway projects.
