Metzgar Committee Assignments Reflect Diverse Issues
Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Somerset) today announced that he has been appointed to the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Commerce and Children and Youth committees, and will serve a year on the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee in the place of a colleague deployed in Iraq.
“Agriculture is the life blood of Somerset and Bedford counties, so obviously I am pleased with that appointment,” said Metzgar. “I am also serving on the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee to take the place of Rep. Nick Miccarelli (R-Delaware) while he is serving our country in Iraq. These assignments, along with my work on the Commerce and Children and Youth committees, I think are a great reflection of the issues and interests of the 69th Legislative District.”
In addition to his committee assignments, Metzgar was elected secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. Metzgar says the economy will be the dominant theme that will be running through all of his committee work.
“Our economic situation in Pennsylvania is requiring action on the part of all standing committees in the House,” said Metzgar. “I will be working hard to see to it that the priorities of the committees are served well in the framework of fiscal responsibility as that will be the main focus of anything that will be done in Harrisburg.”
