Metzgar Announces Transportation Funding for Seven Springs Borough
HARRISBURG – The Borough of Seven Springs has been awarded a $1.35 million grant from the state Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Rep. Carl Metzgar (R-Somerset/Bedford) announced today.

The grant will be used to make improvements to Waterwheel Drive and add a new secondary road, Lodge Drive, to minimize traffic congestion in the area and connect alternative modes of transportation.

“These improvements are an important first step in the effort to enhance economic development in the area,” Metzgar said. “I am pleased to see the Commonwealth investing in the safety and efficiency of our infrastructure.”

The grant is one of more than three dozen awarded through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which supports an array of highway, bridge, mass transit, bike and pedestrian projects. In this round, PennDOT evaluated 251 applications totaling more than $282 million and made selections based on safety benefits, regional economic conditions, the technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability.
