Health Care Petition

The Health Care Fight Isn’t Over

Last night, the U.S. Congress passed legislation which will overhaul our current health care system, putting government in control of our health care decisions.  President Obama is expected to sign the legislation this week.

The fight for your health care freedom is not yet done!

I am proud to be a co-sponsor of House Bill 2053, the “Pennsylvania Health Care Freedom Act,” which would ensure our state residents are shielded from bureaucrat-approved health insurance.

The Pennsylvania Health Care Freedom Act would ensure your health care decisions stay in your hands.  This legislation reaffirms your 10th Amendment rights by:

  • allowing Pennsylvanians to reject a government health care plan;
  • protecting your right to pay directly for medical services; and
  • prohibiting you and your family from being penalized for not purchasing bureaucrat-approved health insurance.

The current health care system does need reform, but the health care reform bill passed by Congress is NOT the answer.  This federal health care bill costs more than $1 TRILLION and takes more money from your pockets!

Not only is this an enormous federal cost. It’s a huge state cost. This will cost Pennsylvania more than $1 BILLION....at a time when our economy is suffering, unemployment is at an all-time high, and our state is facing a $500 million budget deficit.

Congress and Pennsylvania should focus on making health care more affordable, more accessible, and better quality.  We should be opening our state borders to insurance competition as one way to decrease costs as well as mandate providers cover pre-existing conditions.  These are the reforms we need, not the “health care reform” passed by the U.S. Congress.

Let’s get true reform and protect our right to choose.

House Bill 2053 has been in the House Insurance Committee since October awaiting action.  Sign the petition below and/or contact Chairman Anthony M. Deluca at (412)793-2448 or at (717)783-1011 and demand that the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Pennsylvania Senate and Governor Ed Rendell provide you with the right to opt out of the federal health care agenda.
